The JDM engines are not EPA certified for use in the US. They are strictly for off-road racing use only.

The specific differences depend upon the exact model and there are at least 9 different K20 models and some of them are badged as both "Type R" and "Type S" in both markets. What is the difference between the JDM Honda K20 Type R and the USA K20 Type S?
jdm k20 has a biger cam its320 and the usa k20 it a 302 adv dur. and then with that they make adjustments to the ecu which you can send it to hondata and they pretty much make it to the jdm spec ecu which i thnk is 220hp compaired to 210(2005) 201(rest)

you can buy the cams here and it tells you everything

The difference between the Integra Type R and the USDM Type S RSX is literally the camshafts and ECU tuning. The JDM Type R is tuned for 98 octane, which isn't available in the US, so Type R parts on a US Type S will make less power or cause engine failure.
