Can a toyota dealership in america work on a JDM engine such as the 1jzgte?
more than likely, since most JDM engines (common ones anyway) are on the road in the US, just maybe in a different vehicle.
Whats jdm mean in terms of acura integras ?
so ive been reading and learned the difference between the engines and how they call it, i personally just bought a dc4, but wtf does jdm mean ?Whats jdm mean in terms of acura integras ?
it means the engine is from Japan. cars in japan undergo rigorous tests for safety and smog when they are 3-5 years old (i dont remember the actual time line). and it is often cheaper for the car owner to just buy a new car than to keep their old one, so many of these engines/transmissions/anything-else-it-i鈥?will get shipped to us here in the stated to replace damaged or worn out parts with ones from japan with generally 30k-50k miles one them. it is not a bad thing really, most of these engines are just starting to be broken in and will be good for years to come. the thing to watc out for is if you are in a state that follows CARB regulations (Cali for example) most of the engine configurations not orriginally available for sale on a california car are not CARB approved and therefor will not pass smog making them not roadworthy in the eyes of the state not matter if they are cleaner or safer.
japanese domestic motorsWhats jdm mean in terms of acura integras ?
JDM is Japanese Domestic Market, which is the engines and parts made for the cars that do not leave Japan. The Japanese domestic laws require cars to be recycled a lot sooner than those here in the USA, so there is a fairly large supply of serviceable used engines for Japanese cars that have found their way to the US
why do people say japanese domestic motors??
it means japanese domestic MARKET!!! anything from the japanese market you put on your car is jdm.
wether its wheels, motors, lights, steering wheel anything thats made for the cars in japan and not in the u.s. is jdm.

I wanna do a JDm conversion to the front of my 95 integra 4dr, any suggestions, where to buy?
1995 acura integra and want to convert it from a 4dr to a 2dr, and JDm conversion in the front. just need some cheap places where i can but from. Also some other suggestions on what else to do to my car. ThanksI wanna do a JDm conversion to the front of my 95 integra 4dr, any suggestions, where to buy?
Check out grounddynamics.com. They have conversions from $300-$4000, and will beat any advertised price. There JDM Type-R is my favorite. But converting it from 4dr to 2dr would require a lot of cutting and such, so it would cost a lot. I would just leave it as is, besides 4 doors are more convenient anyway. And as far as other upgrades, I would suggest a Greddy turbo kit from greddy.com. And beef up the suspension to make it fun to drive.I wanna do a JDm conversion to the front of my 95 integra 4dr, any suggestions, where to buy?

IF i swap a JDM engine into a car would it be legit/legal in PHOENIX AZ?
the engine would be going into a car that is a 77' my concern is emissions testing/overall legality of the swap. is the 77 exempt or wat? do i have to get and older car that is exempt from emissions because i have seen many cars that are 90'+ and they have JDM engines but im not sure how legal this isIF i swap a JDM engine into a car would it be legit/legal in PHOENIX AZ?
Just register it to a P.O. box someplace down in Pinal county, they still have freedom there......IF i swap a JDM engine into a car would it be legit/legal in PHOENIX AZ?
the exhaust system fumes you shouldnt have to worry about 77 might not need testing at all not sure about your state law its not so much the motor as it is the exhaust fumes it puts out

Buying Japanese Cars - Which Import Models are Value Buys at JDM Auctions?
I'm looking at both private lots and auction deals.Buying Japanese Cars - Which Import Models are Value Buys at JDM Auctions?
Based on price, performance %26amp; overall value, these are my own favorites:
- Toyota Supra
- Nissan Skyline GT-R / Nissan Silvia
- Mazda RX7 / Mazdaspeed Miata
- Subaru Impreza WRX STI
It is easier to get a Mazda or Subaru than to buy the original Skyline (92-94).

If I replace the engine on a '91 Supra with a JDM engine will I need to get a Japanese computer too?
A friend of mine told me that if I got an imported engine then I would have to swap the comp out.If I replace the engine on a '91 Supra with a JDM engine will I need to get a Japanese computer too?
First of all as soon as that engine is in the car, the car will no longer be legal to drive in California due smog restrictions. If that block go in every smog check at a test only center is gonna reject you unless you pay them a hefty 300 or more bucks under the table. You'll most likely need the original wiring harness for the entire engine area, possibly the computer and maybe custom fabrication of mounts framework, brackets, etc. Don't put yourself into a hole you don't need to be in.

what is the difference between a jdm engine and a usdm and what parts u have to change to get it to pass smog in the usa 2000 mitsubishi galantWhat is the difference between a jdm engine and a usdm?
The difference between JDM and USDM engine is only the emission value and the output value of power and torque. The emission is based on the different of emission regulation of each country. The output power and torque is based on the regulation of highway, but this is all about engine management setting. To pass smog, a fast moving parts such as filters-spark plug-and engine maintenance that will shown the condition of the galant. JDM stands for Japanese Domestic Market.
USDM stands for United States Domestic Market.
Japanese usually have more power in their engines. Compared to American versions.
How can I know what engine you are talking about if you do not reference it?
Most JDM engines wont pass smog. Some will.

not a bad set up, but you will just be as fast as the standard usdm gsr with bolt ons because the ek hatch weighs only 5lbs less than the coupe. you can run high 14's with a chip ecu, low 14's with bolt-ons and ecu, but if you are going stock, expect low 15's. been there, done that. i'm speaking reality not gossip. Is a 96 civic hatchback with a JDM GS-R engine swap a good, reliable setup? That is a "norm" in the Honda/Acura world, but as always it won't be smog legal unless you know someone like me that can pass it.

What is the most powerful JDM engine?
i want to do an engine swap and want to have a very fast car! What is the most powerful JDM engine?
Nissan is the first company in Japan to break the agreement between all the companies to limit power to 280HP. So I would say that is the most powerful oem engine in Japan land. As far as potential goes, I would say the 2JZ from Toyota and RB26 from Nissan were very overbuilt and can make some crazy power in stock form.

Where can I find a stock jdm d series turbo.?
I went to buy a tranny from a guy and he gave me a D series turbo manifold from a jdm engine. I think it was a d15 vtec. Does anyone know where I can find that stock turbo.? Or should I just put a t3 on.?Where can I find a stock jdm d series turbo.?
First there was never a stock turbo for a Honda D series engine. The mani is probably a after market part. Second never buy moving parts from eBay. Pipes and intercoolers are ok if you get them from ebay, but not moving parts. Ebay turbo's only last a little whil then they begin to smoke. When it comes to a turbo set up, buy the good stuff.Where can I find a stock jdm d series turbo.?
You need to find out what flange it has to get a turbo that will fit. Look at the pictures at JGS (http://www.jgstools.com/turbo/index2.htm鈥?/a>
It might have a T3 flange, it might not.
E-bay seems to be a good place to buy just turbo chargers. Complete set ups are no better priced then regular retail. Cheap kits can be found there too, but often require a lot of work.

Can anyone tell me, I want pictures too...Where can I get a "JDM RHD EG-6 Honda Civic SiR" with the steering wheel on the left side?
You may want to use hmotors online and just get a right side drive swap on a left side drive car...
Lot more likely to be able to do that than find a Right side drive here in the states that came that way.

If you want the motor with the front clip it's not going to happen. The type-r motor alone is worth more than $2,000. As for the whole car the type-r USDM costs more than $15,000. Plus if you import one you are going to have LOTS of fees at customs and registering it. Not to mention it could take up to 3 years to get it out of customs. No joke a guy I know imported a peugot from germany, and it took him 2 1/2 years and $10,000 on top of the price of the car just to get it legal in the U.S. I would suggest getting a GSR and turboing it and eat the type-r for lunch

If buy the JDM parts via accesories shop, they will install it for you. If you buy via online shop, and you think you can't do the intallation, you can ask the accesories shop for help at out of business time. But, if you think you can handle the installation, why you don't? What does everyone think looks better? Acura Integra 98-01 front end or JDM Integra front end?
I just want to know what LOOKS better, pretend there is no JDM craze going on.What does everyone think looks better? Acura Integra 98-01 front end or JDM Integra front end?
Jdm front because it looks so much sportier. I didn't know there was still a Jdm craze going on.
I'm a fan of the '98-'01 just because of how it flushes in with the body of the car so gracefully. It has a lot of flavor and style to it, unlike the JDM front where it's just a bar headlights, it looks almost IDENTICAL to the '98 honda accords. It's really boring actually, in fact people in Japan like the bug eyes a lot better than their domestic front ends. What does everyone think looks better? Acura Integra 98-01 front end or JDM Integra front end?
I like the 98-01 a little bit more. I just like the way it just curves with the body and the headlights are real nice size so they dont give it the bug look like the vw bugs or the 94-97tegs. That is what I had on my Integra first off but when I got into my weight saving craze and stumbled upon an Authentic Mugen kit(really hard to find) I had to convert to the JDM front end.
JDM does set you apart from the rest of integras, but it kinda looks like the DA integras. I think the USDM 98-01 front end looks great. What does everyone think looks better? Acura Integra 98-01 front end or JDM Integra front end?
JDM or TYPE-R front end if you own an Integra.
JDM front end looks hotter!
Do you think importing JDM cars are worth it?
Is there a cheaper alternative way?Do you think importing JDM cars are worth it?
Only if you don't want right hand drive. If you have to have right hand, then import away.
If so just get a usdm shell and fill it with Jdm components. Easier than all the fees
You pay to get a jdm legal in the USA.Do you think importing JDM cars are worth it?
like cjo said if a car has a usdm equivalent its better to buy one and make a jdm look alike with a usdm vin. if, like a skyline, there is no US equivalent its better to buy one someone else has imported and already made legal to drive in the US.

What gas grade should i use in a JDM SERIES II engine?
I have a 91 acura legend i bought, ive been putting premiumWhat gas grade should i use in a JDM SERIES II engine?
it's a 91 Acura! It's almost 20 years old! Put GAS in it! Don't waste your money on premium!
Type II engine? According to wiki it's a higher flowing intake and more aggressive camshaft. Meaning it's basically got intake upgrades (more air) over the stock engine (that was in your car). You should use premium in the bulk of engines with these characteristics to avoid knock. Considering the age you could probably get away with using regular. Choice is yours. What gas grade should i use in a JDM SERIES II engine?
Acura recommends 93 octane, what you've been putting in. Don't switch because the ECU can't compensate for lower octane for continuous use.
The C32A5 had a knock sensor, so regardless of the octane the ECU would compensate by either retarding the timing or advancing the timing. Stick with 91+ and you should be fine...What gas grade should i use in a JDM SERIES II engine?
Federal law requires all gasoline powered vehicles to run on 87 octane, pinging is a sign of other problems and a small amount under stressful conditions like heavy load up hill is ok.
premium could also add some octane boost like outlaw or the equivalent

I have a set of 17x7 Kei Office Modex KS-05R JDM Wheels that I would like to sell, but not sure on how much its actually worth. Can any wheel gurus out there shed some light on this one for me?I have a set of 17x7 Kei Office Modex KS-05R JDM Wheels that I would like to sell, how much does it worth?
I guess people need to know the conditions of the wheels. Anyhow, you can go from 800 to 1000 if they are good. You can always call a jdm dealer like Japan General Motors at http://www.japangeneralmotor.com and see what they have and what are they selling it for. I think they have some R17 wheels at 900+ just to give you an idea.
Again, the condition is important (rust, usage, ...) The best for youI have a set of 17x7 Kei Office Modex KS-05R JDM Wheels that I would like to sell, how much does it worth?

What is JDM? what does it mean and why is it so popular?
my friend told me to stick to JDM because if i put a body kit on my kar he said it would look like a UFO or a streetsweeper. well. i dont care fag.MAYBE i want it like that. but ya wasup with this JDM? and keeping it stock. What is JDM? what does it mean and why is it so popular?
Japanese domestic market (JDM) is a term for Japan's economic market for Japanese-brand goods, such as automobiles and parts. The term's most common application is to Japanese-brand automobiles built specifically for the Japanese market, i.e., designed and constructed to conform to Japanese vehicle and equipment regulations and to suit Japanese market preferences. JDM vehicles migrate to other markets through ordinary commerce and the grey market.
JDM vehicles often differ in features and equipment from vehicles sold elsewhere. For example, Honda has produced many different versions of the B18C, B16B and K20A engines for various markets worldwide. Generally, engines intended for use outside Japan have been detuned because Japanese Gasoline (Petrol) is of a higher octane rating than is generally available in other markets.[citation needed]
There are safety hazards associated with using JDM headlamps in countries where traffic flows along the right side of the road, because JDM headlamps, engineered for use on the left side of the road, fail to light the right-side driver's way safely ahead while blinding oncoming motorists[1]. Nevertheless, primarily due to marketing efforts, JDM headlamps are quite popular.
In automotive culture, JDM refers to a style of modifying automobiles, mainly cars of Japanese origin.[citation needed] The function of components is often preferred[attribution needed] over cosmetic appeal.[citation needed] "True" Japanese domestic market components are also preferred[attribution needed] over Japanese aftermarket.[citation needed] An example of one such market is the import of used Japanese engines to North America to be put into Honda, Nissan, Toyota, Mazda, Subaru and Mitsubishi sports cars for higher performance.

added a link not being lazy its when i can i add a link to prove the answer as so many time you put a true answer only to see a false answer picked as top answer, not that it matters and being picked but a wrong answer as a winner does.
The idea overall if you can pick the same car model from different countries and see a major difference in its style IE the infiniti i30 the US version differs in bumpers etc to the Japanese one and the European one .So because of this many US owners want to go for the say Japanese look so they buy the parts which go one the Japanese version of the same car and give it a different look although the same car.So idea spreads across many models of cars.
ok. for me JDM is a passion and a lifestyle. I strive to keep my car looking clean and tasteful (no offense but most body kits look like crap). JDM means that you don't make your car look like a trashy ho but Sleeper (stock exterior) with engine work. If I were you, I'd sell the body kit and invest your money in the engine.. For example.. my Civic: the exterior is all stock except for some JDM SI taillights which look mean with red color. The engine is a B16A (Japaneese stock civic engine) and exhaust ( but NOT a frick loud one because that'll just piss people off and they'll call you a ricer) anyways.. depending on what kind of car you have you can really make it look sweet.
Good LuckWhat is JDM? what does it mean and why is it so popular?
JDM stands for Japanese Domestic Market. That is things that are made for and sold in the Japanese market. It particularly applies to things that can be had in Japan but are not officially sold in the United States.
You often see the term applied to engines, because Japan gets some engines in some cars that, while they can legally be used in the US, were never sold here; AND due to Japanese car registration laws, it can be expensive to keep older cars running, and therefore many are sold overseas, or parted out both in Japan and overseas, even though they don't have many miles on them. Thus you can buy a low-mileage JDM engine for not a lot of money.
Sometimes things are sold as JDM as a cover for selling stolen parts. This is a problem with Hondas/Acuras. It can be hard to prove whether parts are stolen (this is VERY common with GSRs and Type-Rs), and the JDM angle is believable, so...
JDM stuff carries a lot of cachet when you're talking about Japanese cars. Why? Because it does. Like European stuff does for VWs and BMWs, and I imagine American parts do for American cars overseas.
And you're going to look like an idiot driving a car with an outlandish body kit.

as previously stated. japanese domestic market. but unlike everyone else im going to tell you why I like jdm.
1. engine wise more power and less restrictions and its unique to an extent.
2. body wise there actually is alot different and if u know ur stuff about imports you can spot it out. like one a civic. jdm has side markers a different front and rear lip different mirrors and is right had drive. its subtle differences but its not always like that. like on the evo VIIII the front and rear bumpers are EXTREMELY different and look soooooooo much better in my opinion.
i can see why ur friend wants you to go JDM but still its your style and its what u like so stick with it.What is JDM? what does it mean and why is it so popular?
Japenese Domestic Market. in japan they come with different body accessories straight from the factory . ones that look way better than most of our factory cars out here in the U S ..so guys wanna make there cars look like a factory japanese car by getting there hands on japanese parts or jdm swag.. so there car can be somekind of unique amongst the sea of ordinary imports especially here in socal...
JDM stands for Japanese Domestic Market. Many JDM swaps are done on cars imported into the U.S. for instance engines are more powerful in japanese models than U.S. imported models. Other than that though i wouldnt see the difference body kit wise. If it looks good on youre car then screw it.jayco

How much would you pay JDM integra?
Ok here is the deal, i am lookling at this car and i want some opinions on what it is worth. It is a 94 integra gsr will all power options. I has a right hand drive conversion, jdm front end, all leather interior, upgraded sound system, and it will be painted type r yellow and it has 17" rims. the car is in near exellent condition. it has a clean title and about 70,000 miles on the rebuilt motor. Let me know and thanks in advanceHow much would you pay JDM integra?
It depends on what the owner thinks it's worth. If he's put a ton of work and money into it, which it appears that he has, he will probably want way more than market value, because he wants to get some money back for all his effort.
I'm curious why he went out of his way to convert a car to right hand drive. Don't they have steering wheels on the right in Japan to begin with? If it's a Japanese Domestic Market car, it should come with all of the Japan Spec. stuff, right? And thus be very hard to federalize and make street legal in the US.....How much would you pay JDM integra?
like 4 grand. it doesnt matter how much money they put into a car. in the end not even the dealer would give you more than blue book. even if you upgrade it to the max and it can push over 300hp. look at the cars on craigslist or yahoo. alot of those cars have suspension upgrades body work. custom wheels and engine performance upgrades. and they are not seeing for more than blue book. some dealers will give you less than blue book if the car is tampered with in anyway. plus if its not a true jdm integra and it was a conversion. your always ganna have that feeling in the back of your mind that you bought a knock off. and not a real thing. just a thought.
i really wouldnt buy anything with a rebuild engine. cuz you never know if they guy that rebuild it did a good job.How much would you pay JDM integra?
if its in the condition u say its on. i would honestly pay up to $6,500 or so. That might be a little much because of the year, but then again the GSR motor is real good motor, the upgraded sound system doesnt hurt, the leather is always nice, rims are a good size(dnt know how good they look) and the right hand drive looks real clean as far as JDM looks go.
if u want u can email me a picture and ill give u a better opinion.

How many Horsepower does my 2000 Honda Civic SI with JDM B16A and with the AC legal Intake might have?
Well stock the B16 usually puts out around 160 hp, and with an intake that might boost it by 5 to 6 hp. As for what gets to the wheels, its like the other guy said, perhaps 130-145.How many Horsepower does my 2000 Honda Civic SI with JDM B16A and with the AC legal Intake might have?

What kind of cam gears should i get for a jdm b16a?
i have a jdm b16a, and i just wanna replace the cam gears becuz the ones that are on they are a lil rusty and nasty looking, and and are the came gears supposed to be exposed? What kind of cam gears should i get for a jdm b16a?
If you really need to replace the cam gear, you should just
order what you need from your auto parts supplier. You
should just get the standard gear listed for your engine as
to get a different size would alter the engine camshaft
timing, and require a lot more work, and parts to fix.
As to the gear looking a little rusty, that shouldn't have
any effect on it working if it is still in use in the car. If
the cam has been out, and you are just putting it back
together I would suggest that you just get a rust remover
to clean it off. If there are large pits or deep gouge
grooves in the gear, I would order a replacement. If
the gear is still in the car, but the car is running well,
I wouldn't worry so much about the gear, but I would
start looking as to why it isn't getting some engine oil
onto it for lubrication.
As for cam gears being exposed, yes some are
plainly visible at the top of the engine inside a space
in the head. Once you remove the rocker arm cover
you can see them well.

Is it Legal to swap a prelude engine h23a to a h22a jdm?
hi their i have a honda prelude stock with the h23a1 engine, i want to know if it would be legal and pass smog if a swap it for a h22a jdm engine any help?Is it Legal to swap a prelude engine h23a to a h22a jdm?
if you want to make sure it passes emissions make sure parts are carb legal, if they are then it will pass nationwide since cali has the strictest emissions laws. the only swapping the engine wouldnt be legal is if the engine is reported stolen, but it would be a lot of trouble for cops to find all the codes on the engine to run a record check (always the possibility though)Is it Legal to swap a prelude engine h23a to a h22a jdm?
Yeah it should work. I have a 94 lude si which comes with the h23 and it was swapped to an h22. The car passed emissions testing for the person who i bought it from although where i live it is just a visual inspecion. just make sure it has a decent exhaust. Is it Legal to swap a prelude engine h23a to a h22a jdm?
it would be cheaper and better just leave ur h23a1 in and take a h22a head and bolt it up.....u will still pass every thing and have vtecmerchants tire

The car passed emissions testing for the person who i bought it from although where i live it is just a visual inspecion. just make sure it has a decent exhaust. Is it Legal to swap a prelude engine h23a to a h22a jdm?
it would be cheaper and better just leave ur h23a1 in and take a h22a head and bolt it up.....u will still pass every thing and have vtec

What jdm engine would you recommend for a honda del sol.?
im really interested in doing an engine swap. i have a single cam d15 non vtec. i want a jdm engine swap. wich ones would be a better fit. im trying to keep it under $2k. what would your recommend? What jdm engine would you recommend for a honda del sol.?
cant go wrong with b16, a jdm engine will pass smog, youll need to get it bar'd if you live in california. i have a jdm h22, all legal. What jdm engine would you recommend for a honda del sol.?
First of all a JDM engine will not pass the sniffer test because of its higher compression(not much though). I would rather look for a USDM B16A2 which is can be easily swapped in and smog legal. What jdm engine would you recommend for a honda del sol.?

Define JDM [ yahoo answers is stupid and makes me make my question at least 20 charcters long]?
i am a little bit confused as to exactly what JDM (japanese domestic market/model) represents. my current understanding of it is that any car built to japanese specs is jdm. eg. a nissan silvia is JDM, but a nissan 240sx (almost the same car) is not. is this correct?Define JDM [ yahoo answers is stupid and makes me make my question at least 20 charcters long]?
People have explained about JDM and that it is a car built for the Japan.
You mentioned the sx now i had an s13 version which stock had a ca18det engine and i wonder what else differed from the US versions,i also had a QX maxima a32 which is sold to you as an infiniti i30 and that differs if nothing else but style wise from the US version and sold as a cefiro in Asia.
My friend has MK4 Supra's JDM spec and when we order parts we have to say imports and many features differ from the UK spec to the Import spec down to brake disc etc.and i know on the MK4 Supra even engine parts differ.Define JDM [ yahoo answers is stupid and makes me make my question at least 20 charcters long]?
yeah i think you've answered your own Question. as you state JDM is jap domestic market. Hence any japanese auto company that makes a model for sale in Japan is JDM. Here in canada Honda has a mfg plant that makes cars solely for sale in canada or CDM. Just as many other companies have specific models for specific markets. to save money many models share parts. So in some cases a JDM can be quite similar to a US model from the same co. Essentially the same car, just a few tweaks for the specific market and often a model name change( the honda pilot sold in Saudi was not called the Pilot since 911) i think it was called the MRV ?Define JDM [ yahoo answers is stupid and makes me make my question at least 20 charcters long]?
All explained :)
"is this correct?"
Kind of.....
Any vehicle made to conform to Japanese vehicle regulations and/or their market preferences will be called JDM. If Honda ,Toyota, Nissan, or any Japanese brand sells one car designed JDM, you'll probably see differences in in external lighting, trim, features, suspension characteristics, etc... from a similar car sold in the American market or any other market outside Japan.

What do i need to import a JDM Car straight from japan?
i want so get an S15 and i want to know what i need is it easy? What do i need to import a JDM Car straight from japan?
You didn't say what country you were from but assuming Canada or America it is near impossible. Any car imported to America must meet US emissions and safety standards and must be converted to left hand drive. Cars manufactured for the Japanese market do not meet those standards and the cost to make them meet the standards makes importing them prohibitive. Other countries have similar restrictions and many times very high import fees.

Where can i get a jdm b20a for my 88 accord?
the 85-89 accord came with a sohc FI 2.0L I4 engine with A20A3 being the engine code. that only produced 122HP. in japan, europe, and and basically everyware but the US, the 85-89 accord was made with an optional DOHC FI 2.0 I4 engine with the engine code being B20A. this engine produced 160hp. this engine is also found in the 2nd gen preludes as an out of the us option aswell. i have a couple of friends in new zealand that see them everyday, problem is they dont want to pull one because the shipping would outragous. i live in california and i need to find someone close this way that can get one or know ware one is. also this engine is very,VERY similar to the B20A found in the 3rd gen preludes (89-91)(88 if it is jdm) but even with the same engine code, it is in fact a differant engine. any help is greatly appreciated.

I have a JDM ZC swap in my hatch with racing cams, approximately how much hp do I have?
the cams are extremely aggressive, and my car has trouble idling low, how much hp do you think I have? The stock motor was 137 hp, and it was rebuilt about 20,000 miles ago. It's a JDM ZC DOHC.I have a JDM ZC swap in my hatch with racing cams, approximately how much hp do I have?
ok, after you have done all this work, did you reprogramm your ecm to operate efficiently with your power adding accessories? if not your not operating efficiently anyway, and your not getting all available power that you have at your disposal. and since it is not running well at low idle you have lost any acceleration and power you might have had a lower rpm. get your car to a someone with the ability to reflash your ecm and get it on a dyno to see what you can do. a proper tune will unlock the most available horsepower and torque you got.I have a JDM ZC swap in my hatch with racing cams, approximately how much hp do I have?
What racing cams do you have? First the aftermarket cams are rare in theses models, second are you sure your car is running right, it shouldnt idle low it should have a loupe, third check thezcr.com, and fourth I have done this swap before and research performance parts for it.I have a JDM ZC swap in my hatch with racing cams, approximately how much hp do I have?
the best thing you can do is find someone with a dyno.

So what determines a JDM car? Right hand drive or simply built and manufactured in japan?
I got a 2000 acura integra, it's left hand drive but the frist letter of the vin is J (Japan). would it be considered a JDM or not?So what determines a JDM car? Right hand drive or simply built and manufactured in japan?
JDM - Japanese Domestic Market
A JDM car doesn't necessarily need to be built in Japan, but it does have to conform to the local design regulations.
A JDM Hyundai Getz for instance although being Right Hand Drive for Great Britain, Australia and Japan - will have side impact intrusion bars for Australia but not GB or Japan, the JDM version will have a different gearbox and final drive (because of lower freeway speeds) and the JDM version will have more stringent pollution controls.
The term JDM doesn't only apply to cars, you also find JDM Mobile Phones, Televisions, Digital Radio - all of which have unique standards for Japan.
Your Acura Integra is obviously an export car and not for the Japanese Domestic Market, as it's Left Hand Drive (and therefore would be barred on Japanese roads) and it's an Acura which has never been sold as a brand in Japan.
I would also suspect that being built for the US it has bigger airbags (if fitted) and bigger bumper bars to meet US design regulations. So what determines a JDM car? Right hand drive or simply built and manufactured in japan?
Unfortunately, even though it's stated as JDM, it's NOT made in Japan. If it's an actual JDM, the vehicle would be left untouched RHD, and will carries the original name of Honda instead of re-badged Acura.
Malaysia has one of the most JDM models (which about 50% are re-assembled in Thailand). It still carries the actual Japanese brand names (We never have non-JDM names here) and the models before the 90s are fully imported CBUs from Japan. One example? RHD Daihatsu Charade Aura CX (I'm owning one currently), where the Chassis No. starts with "J...", all instructions still retains Japanese with English Translations and standard, no added accessories...So what determines a JDM car? Right hand drive or simply built and manufactured in japan?
No because it's built in America. Japan DOMESTIC motor meaning it's built in Japan. Hence the word Japan and domestic. People go for JDM LOOKS here in US.
The car is never sold in Japan, so it's not JDM. Japan do not have Acuras.

Can you put a JDM diesel engine in a 1973 Toyota FJ40?
I have a 1973 Toyota FJ40 with a gas motor and I would like to find a diesel engine to put in. I would like to put in a new motor....1990 or newer and I was thinking of a JDM motor, but maybe a cummins or CRD....any suggestions? Can you put a JDM diesel engine in a 1973 Toyota FJ40?
The easiest diesel to fit is the toyota 3B or any of that family,13B or 13BT.Also the hj series will fit,you better to stick with the toyota engines as all the gearboxes etc will bolt up.Can you put a JDM diesel engine in a 1973 Toyota FJ40?
my answer is;
Cool!
Measure, Measure and Measure again. Dimensions of the engine will be needing first consideration and understand that a Diesel engine (motor's are electric) weighs more then a gas.
Toyota does make a Diesel engine.
Good Luck!
hope my answer helps

Can I swap a JDM EJ20G engine into a '98 Subaru Legacy Outback Wagon?
If so, what parts besides the transmission and ECU are required? Do I have to replace the rear diff? Any other major changes? Thanks! Can I swap a JDM EJ20G engine into a '98 Subaru Legacy Outback Wagon?
Yes. Engine, ECU and harness is all you really need to make it work. And also make sure you live in an area where there is no OBD scanning for emissions because the JDM ECU's before 02 or so will not pass. Any transmission can be used pretty much but if you want the one that was with the engine, then you will want the rear end too to keep gearing proper. I don't know why you would want to go through all the trouble of using an import engine that will not even be road legal in most states when there are plenty of engines you can use right at home for pretty cheap. Can I swap a JDM EJ20G engine into a '98 Subaru Legacy Outback Wagon?
EJ20G is a turbo charge engine, so call the 4-cam version of the Subaru Legacy used. If ur outback is BG6 or BD6 for your 1998, that will fit. However, you need new engine mount, and the bolts attached to the tranny. I think the EJ20G had 8 bolts, while the US verion may not be the same (6 or 8 depended on your mnufacturer day).
Wiring for the turbo and other wires will be slightly different; but you should able to manage to do so.
Good luck on the swap.

Adding a stage1 jdm turbo kit to 99 e46 323i bmw ,do I need to upgrade my map sensor?
There is no MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor installed in this car.
Perhaps you are referring to the MAF (mass airflow meter).
The MAF reads the mass of air that goes into the intake manifold
and forwards it to the DME (engine computer). Along with the 02 sensors, they are the 2 most relevant sensors to air/fuel mixtures.
Tronary's comments holds true whether it is an MAP or MAF.Adding a stage1 jdm turbo kit to 99 e46 323i bmw ,do I need to upgrade my map sensor?

There's dealers across the country that do all the leg work for you. Typically they won't guarantee mileage but they'll guarantee a range of mileage. Password JDM is okay.

Would a pair of fuel injectors and spark plugs for a usdm crx fit into a jdm b16a crx?
the spark plugs and injectors i want are for an sohc d16a1 engine. would they fit into a dohc b16a engine?Would a pair of fuel injectors and spark plugs for a usdm crx fit into a jdm b16a crx?
Spark plugs are universal. Just the gap is different between the electrode between motors. You will need to re gap the spark plugs!
The fuel injectors will not work for you without some modification. The B16 requires a lot more fuel for combustion than that of the D16.Would a pair of fuel injectors and spark plugs for a usdm crx fit into a jdm b16a crx?
Possibly, but your trying to put parts from a D-series onto a B-series. the injectors may not work on the B16, because they are from a non-vtec engine and may not be compatible.

Can i use a jdm wiring harness on my swap?
can you use jdm wiring harnesses on us cars? If not is it hard to hook it up?Can i use a jdm wiring harness on my swap?
You can use the plugs but the actual harness you cant. This is because JDM harnesses are designed for right hand drive cars, so they are too short. Use your stock harness and add in the plugs you need, this is the easiest way to do it.Can i use a jdm wiring harness on my swap?

Is it illegal to have the conversion of usdm to jdm of the steering wheel?
im planing on doing my honda prelude . doing a conversion from left to right side steering wheel and i lot of my friends say its illegal...Is it illegal to have the conversion of usdm to jdm of the steering wheel?
I can't imagine why it would be illegal. The only things that are regulated are emission systems and those are by the states. you can do anything you want to your car including disconnecting air bags as long as you don't pollute the air.
van conversion companies do modifications on steering and control pedals for handycap people all the time. Moving the steering wheel and controls (brake, accelerator and, if its a manual the clutch) will be a lot of work and it will affect retail value but there is nothing illegal about doing them.
hope that helpsIs it illegal to have the conversion of usdm to jdm of the steering wheel?
yesIs it illegal to have the conversion of usdm to jdm of the steering wheel?
I just took drivers ed in California recently and it said it is illegal to modify your airbags, but I have had a detachable steering wheel for awhile now and both times I got pulled over the cops didn't say anything about it.
I don't see why it would. Maybe that a law based on state to state. I'm not sure. http://passwordjdm.com sells them, %26amp; if they were illegal throughout they would have shut them down already. I guess you could check with your local DMV.campers

What kind of TMIC to run on a 93 JDM WRX swapped gc8?
I have most of the swap completed, and i have decided to go with top mount instead of front mount (fitment issues) but i'm not sure which intercoolers will be compatible with the motor and how its fitted in my engine bay, some say you can use a 2002 USDM TMIC but it requires modding, i just want one that will be moderately easy to install, please help? What kind of TMIC to run on a 93 JDM WRX swapped gc8?
See if you can find the original that should be on that engine.
Check with Garage Tuning or JDM Parts. What kind of TMIC to run on a 93 JDM WRX swapped gc8?
Not sure about which will fit, but an important thing to remember is the splitter. You want a good seal around the intercooler so that the air from the scoop goes directly to it, not around it.

Imported motor vehicles are subject to U.S. safety standards, bumper standards, and air pollution control (emission) standards.
For Customs clearance you will need the shipper's or carrier's original bill of lading, the bill of sale, foreign registration, and any other documents covering the vehicle.
You will also need written prior approval from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which will be evident to the Customs inspector at the port of entry in the form of an approval letter from the EPA, or a manufacturer's label in the English language affixed to the car, stating that the vehicle meets all U.S. emission requirements.

Does anyone know where i can order a JDM engine thats with the BBB?
Looking for an RB25DET swap and need a trusted website.Does anyone know where i can order a JDM engine thats with the BBB?
If you're asking about Better Business Bureau membership... In this age of internet web sites and international on-line sales, the BBB is kind of a relic. Even if the seller you want to buy from is a member, the BBB can't do anything about the quality of the seller's product.
If you really want to verify a seller's reliability, then only buy from those who list on trusted sites like Ebay, and check out the sellers feedback from other buyers. Poor or low feedback usually indicates poor service or products

What is the difference between the JDM Honda K20 Type R and the USA K20 Type S?

whats the difference? What is the difference between the JDM Honda K20 Type R and the USA K20 Type S?
Hey man, there's been alot floating around about converting your USDM to JDM. Basically, the main difference is our engines (K20A2) are like the toned down versions. In Japan, they got K20Z (I think) which pump out 10 more bhp, putting the K20Z at 220 hp.
However, given this difference, it's worth noting that the build of the engine is different too. I'm not an expert on these type of things, but my guess would be a lighter flywheel, a sport-tuned header, etc..
Lots more info at crsx.com
Lol, and on a side note, no matter how JDM you make it, your steering wheel will always be on the left..
Good luck!

The JDM engines are not EPA certified for use in the US. They are strictly for off-road racing use only.
The specific differences depend upon the exact model and there are at least 9 different K20 models and some of them are badged as both "Type R" and "Type S" in both markets. What is the difference between the JDM Honda K20 Type R and the USA K20 Type S?
jdm k20 has a biger cam its320 and the usa k20 it a 302 adv dur. and then with that they make adjustments to the ecu which you can send it to hondata and they pretty much make it to the jdm spec ecu which i thnk is 220hp compaired to 210(2005) 201(rest)
you can buy the cams here and it tells you everything
http://www.briancrower.com/makes/honda/k鈥?/a>What is the difference between the JDM Honda K20 Type R and the USA K20 Type S?
The difference between the Integra Type R and the USDM Type S RSX is literally the camshafts and ECU tuning. The JDM Type R is tuned for 98 octane, which isn't available in the US, so Type R parts on a US Type S will make less power or cause engine failure.

What do I need to do to legalize a JDM EG6 in the US?
I am a huge fan of the EG6 and the B16a i figure this will save swap, and RHD conversion. Thanks NickWhat do I need to do to legalize a JDM EG6 in the US?
it would be cheaper to build your own than to ship one and get it legal.
a b16 swap is cheap, converting to rhd takes a little time but its not too hard.

actually these JDM places are not making a Killing because of OVERCHARGE. you have to remember your shipping an Engine overseas not only that they have to pay legal fees. since they are a legal business they are charged and recoreded by the DMV they have to pay the DMV to inspect the engine not to mention they have to pay a fee for having an engine that is not even close to economy friendly and will not meet US regulations.
other then that dont get a Type R engine instead of getting a B18C that is japanese get a B18C3 or C5 that come in the GSR make changes to it. this will be alot cheaper or just go K swap that will waste the 99 and prior Type R
you can also get an LS Swap for it that produces about 4 hp less but 8 lbs torque more then the Type R
if your really set on getting a Type R engine then doe it through a company or hope that the cops dont crack down to hard on vin matches where your from. iv lost a 240 with an sr20det and a beat up little rx7 "fc" with a 13B-REW out of an FD in california when i didnt even live there.bully dog

Does the jdm k20a need hondata or is the ecu it comes with already tuned for performance?
the k20a is tuned for performance its rated at 220 hp i think. you will only need hondata kpro if you plan on modifying the engine further because you will have to get it re-tuned for the new parts. parts that would require tuning are things like cam shafts or headers that delete you catalytic converter.Does the jdm k20a need hondata or is the ecu it comes with already tuned for performance?
You can run the OEM ECU for the K20a, however it will run just like a stock car. If you are planning on running an aftermarket intake, header, and exhaust, you will definitely get more out of the Hondata.
http://www.hybrid-racing.com/store/hondata-kpro.html
Also, when running the K20a motor you can run the OEM k20a3 engine and charge harnesses, but you will still need the conversion harness for you specific chassis:

doesn't matter really right? because the rpm on the H22 would be the same as your original D15/16 motor.

Where can I find JDM '01 Prelude parts, aside from the junk being sold on ebay?
I have a 2001 Honda Prelude and I can't find any of the JDM conversion parts to go from USDM Type SH to JDM SiR.

I suggest going to Passwordjdm.com or VISracing.com. There are many sights online that sell legit JDM parts. Also you can always contact Jspec.com if you are serious about locating some rare parts and are willing to pay the $$$ for them.

What parts would i need for a jdm body conversion?
Besides the obvious, front and back bumpers, fenders and hood, would it just bolt on and replace the OEM ones?
|||head lights, fog lights, brake lights, wheels, emblems, and yeah they do usually bolt on to OEM ones|||i agree with answer #1, just if its like a integra to jdm then it requires more.

Are classic JDM hood mounted mirrors legal in California?
I noticed old Japanese cars (like my favorite, the classic Skyline) have hood mounted rearview mirrors. I also know that some supercars (Pagani Zonda, for example) have mirrors that are mounted somewhere other than the door, so this gives me a clue that they are legal. But are they legal in California, as long as they give the driver a view of at least 200 feet behind the vehicle?
Thanks!|||why wouldn't they be???
also check most states only require 1 side mirror.......|||Totally legal. You just need at least 2 mirrors (sideview+rearview, 2 sideviews, ect.)

Enjoy!|||Unless you plan on converting to right hand drive, I would suggest against JDM headlights. I read this somewhere at a Panda Express and I was just wondering what exactly it means. If anyone can help me out I would really appreciate it, thanks.|||I can only find some background to the JDM 'phenomenon'.
JDM stands for "Japanese Domestic Market" originally referring to cars and parts bought direct from Japan which are better and more radical that the locally available Honda etc.
The term JDM has long been used to "one-up" a friend or acquaintance at Krispy Kreme car meets and the likes. By adding a JDM item to your "ride" you are instantly "cooler" than your friend's USDM counterpart.
One can only assume it refers to the T-shirt you can buy with "Orange Chicken is the new JDM" emblazoned on the front.

Go ahead and tell your insurance company you swapped it. And be prepared to be dropped from their coverage.
Or don't tell them. Then when you get in a wreck, don't expect any reimbursement.|||It is my opinion that if they don't ask, don't tell.
As for emissions requirements, it takes some careful study as to what emission changes need to be made. Many JDM engines are the same as the US counter parts except in matters of tuning curves. All of the ones that I have studied in detail have the same catalytic converters, smog pumps and EGR systems, but the ECM programs have been different.
Do some research on this issue, a lot of people claim to "Know" but I am finding more pseudo experts then real things in this area.
Even if the EGR and other smog equipment is different for the engine it is replacing, in many cases there is a US counter part for parts to convert the JDM over to a US legal engine.|||Correct!
However, if you really want to register the engine "legally" without the high cost buying USDM parts to convert the emissions to be US legal, then find yourself a shade tree mechanic that will pass your car on a smog check. From there you can register the motor to your chassis.
On paper, you will be "LEGIT"

Does the JDM K20a a 75mm throttle body and performance intake manifold or do I need to buy from Skunk2?
Hi
changing carburetter from the standard will have no effect on performance despite what some kid has told you all is does is waste fuel as the head and ports need gas flowing and polishing to have any great effect to the standard performance a better exhaust system is required this should be an expansion box which will be noisy and get you into problems with the law these devices are meant for racing not on the public highway as the engines on the race track are constantly running at much higher rpm than the standard road machine.
Then these is the other issue of modifications to engines and the insurance company if modified and an accident happens weather it is a result of the modifications or not the insurance company will walk away from the insurance claim as you have modified it without telling them. then you will be prosecuted by the police for having no insurance as they will inform the police of this issue. so is it really worth the problems associated with this expenditure.
i don't think so a large bike or scooter is a far better option.|||If you are going to be keeping the motor stock, a 75mm throttle (which doesn't exist from what I can find) will not be good for you. That will be way over kill for that motor. If you run a stock motor with a OEM RBC manifold or a Skunk2 manifold, you will benefit way more. Once again, you will need more parts than just that to see a lot of difference in power gain and you will also need Kpro.

How much would it be to convert a 94 integra to the jdm front end with the bar lights?
is there a conversion kit? if so does it come with the lights too or do i gotta get those separate? is it straight bolt on?|||its expensive i think, you have to swap all the body panels off on the front,
the hood, fenders, radiator core support, bumper/grille, headlights.
you have to swap core supports to do this swap correctly.
here is a video of doing a similar swap:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHcnDOyry鈥?/a>
this swap can be costly, depending if you buy new or used parts, also they are sold with HID's or without (with usually being more expensive)
ITR (integra type r front end conversions are about $1300-1800 (non-hid), depending where you buy.
and to add the HID, its usually another $500 or more.

Will a jdm forester engine work in a usdm legacy?
the chassis code for the forester is sf5 so i don't know if it would work in my 99 legacy or not. can anyone help me out?|||If that engine is either EJ25D, EJ22E (or either 2.5L /2.2L) without turbocharger should work. However, I think you may need to make a slight adjustment on the engine mount and the screw pattern that connect between the tranny to the engine.|||Yes, providing you use the matching drive train.
Will JDM honda Integra rear recaro seats fit in my 1997 Civic sedan?
Im gonna buy the universal front seats so i wanna buy the rear seat to match it.|||Recaro unviersal? Are you buying the cheap ones from ebay? You need to swap over you mounting brackets. Why does it seem the Big 3 just now decided to make JDM style tuner cars?
The Dodge Srt-4 and Chevrolet Cobalt. These came out only years ago Why didn't they start trying to make these cars years ago when people started tuning civics? Why wait til' business is failing and on the verge to bankruptcy?|||The last two answers are right. However, each of those cars were produced in very limited numbers for a limited amount of time. Ford is the only one of the Big 3 that seemed to give a crap. They had the Escort GT (1991-1996 were the only real contenders but the GT was made as far back as the 80's), Escort ZX2, and the Focus SVT. GM had the Cavalier Z24 (out since the 80's), but it was never a true competitor. Also, Chrysler had a unique one in the 80's called the Dodge Omni GLH. The Big 3 never put much into these cars and never planned on making the good ones for very long. For didn't failing, but GM and Chrysler basically told the masses what they wanted instead of building what they wanted. Those who conformed, bought their cars. Those of us who looked outside the box, went import. To their credit, the Neon SRT-4 was a formidable contender but it was produced too late. I bet that car alone could've saved the Neon. The SVT's engine was so custom that it was really expensive just to build the Cosworth.|||because 1 of the big 3 guys had a chance to get jap engineering in the use in the mid 70;s

Will an 1998 Prelude transmission work fine with a h22a jdm engine?
I'm about ready to buy the engine, but mt only concern is that the transmission may not bolt up.|||As long as it's not from a Prelude SH model. The SH models have a traction control system that makes them different from any other N. America Prelude. There is a JDM H22A from a car called the Prelude Type-S, that shares that same unique transmission. Otherwise, with another exception of the S2000 F-series transmissions, any F-series or H-series transmissions will bolt right up. My friend has an Accord F-series transmission bolted to his turbocharged JDM H22A right now, it just has longer gearing.|||should work fine the only real difference is the power they have from factory.... Is a USDM Honda Civic Compatatble with a JDM Motor?
Hey, I know that any motor will go in any car with the right amount of money and know how. So I guess I know the answer to my question, but my real question is how difficult would it be, and how much money would it cost. My application would be to a 1999 Civic.|||Yes, you could swap it out with a B18C from a JDM Integra or a B16A from a Civic Type-R. But your best option(bang for your buck) would probably be to swap an integra GSR engine/tranny/mounts/ecu into your civic, the harness should plug right up and mounts will bolt right in. With a few bolt ons it can make as much or more power than the Type-R engines. The only thing that would make it difficult is if your civic is not an Si, then wiring will need to be done for Vtec to function as it should. If i were you, i would go with a 1998 or so Integra GSR swap. just so you know, your car is OBD-II so make sure when selecting a swap your getting an OBD-II GSR swap.|||It depends on the exact engine, and year of the engine. If you're swapping in a '99-'00 D-series or a '99-'01 B-series, then it will be easy. In those cases, you would just need to add a few more wires, for sensors your stock car doesn't have (vtec, 2nd O2 sensor, Intake Air Bypass, knock sensor). For the B-series, you will also need a rear mount bracket %26amp; a driver's side mount bracket; both from a '00-'99 USDM Civic Si (to keep A/C, you'd need a '96 Del Sol VTEC A/C bracket).

After that, the other swaps become more involved. For an H22A or any H-series or F-series swap (from an Accord or Prelude), you'll need to do more wiring, buy a special aftermarket mount kit, and get custom axles (not necessarily aftermarket ones).

Then, if you really have the $ to spend, there is the K-series swap. It will be more expensive than the rest, but will have the most potential for power. Parts are similar to that of the H/F-series swaps. You need aftermarket mounts, axles, shifter %26amp; cables, a lot more wiring, a custom header. Expect to pay around $10,000 for everything, if you pay someone to do the swap.
